Self-catering holiday homes in Thorpeness

Look through our Thorpeness holiday cottages and get ready for your Suffolk holiday. Known as ‘The Home of Peter Pan’, Thorpeness is a great destination for Suffolk coastal breaks, whether you’re looking for a group holiday, a romantic break or a holiday with the kids in a self-catering holiday cottage. You’ll find lots of spots named after Peter Pan, as the story’s author JM Barrie was good friends with the village’s founder Ogilvie and often visited this enchanting seaside community. One place that pays homage to Barrie is the Thorpeness Meare, an artificial lake covering 60,000 acres with numerous islands and inlets. This lake has some shallow parts which are great for parents and their children, or you can just enjoy a walk around it and soak up the scenery.

When you stay at our self-catering accommodation in Thorpeness, you’ll not only have the benefit of this wonderful village and its charming shingle beach (as well as the Thorpeness Country Club, you’ll also have the seaside resort of Aldeburgh just 2 miles away. This coastal town is a hub for music lovers with the annual Aldeburgh Music Festival held here each June. The festival was founded by Benjamin Britten and, on the pebble beach, you’ll find The Scallop, a sculpture honouring the great man. Similarly, Southwold is just 16 miles north and offers a sandy beach as well as an exciting pier and plenty of good shopping. Check out all of our Thorpeness cottages above, including dog-friendly retreats, cottages with hot tubs and holiday homes with open fires and cosy wood burners. It's the ideal base for holidays in Suffolk.
